AN ANCIENT PRACTICE

Oil • Hospitality • Prayer • Care

Long before modern wellness practices existed, oils and fragrant botanicals were woven into everyday life.

Throughout Scripture, we find oil used to welcome guests, prepare the body, care for others, mark meaningful moments, and accompany prayer.

Our Anointed Oils practice draw inspiration from that tradition.

CREATED FROM THE EARTH

Plants, flowers, herbs, trees, and seeds have provided oils and aromatic materials for generations.

Depending on the experience, oils may include gentle botanical aromas selected to complement the atmosphere of prayer, reflection, rest, or compassionate care.

You may encounter scents that feel:

Earthy • Floral • Herbal • Warm • Fresh • Grounding

We don't believe an aroma has to promise something extraordinary to be meaningful.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”
- James 5:14

Sometimes its purpose is simply to remind you:

You are here. This moment is yours.

You can slow down.

ANOINTED OILS + LAYING OF THE HANDS

These two ministry practices naturally meet.

Throughout Scripture, touch, oil, prayer, hospitality, and care often appear alongside one another.

At Happy Acres, Anointed Oils may be incorporated into Laying of the Hands, including experiences involving compassionate touch or professional massage and bodywork provided by appropriately licensed practitioners.

Oil may accompany the hands.

Prayer may accompany the moment when welcomed.

And quiet may accompany both.

But none of those things are required to make someone worthy of receiving care.

Sometimes ministry simply means caring for the person in front of you.

THE EXPERIENCE

An Anointed Oils experience doesn't have to be complicated.

You may begin by choosing an aroma that speaks to you.

Take a breath.

Settle into the space.

Depending on the gathering or ministry experience, oils may accompany:

Prayer, Laying of the Hands, Quiet reflection, Sabbath rest, Guided meditation, Breath awareness, Compassionate care, Professional massage or bodywork

You may choose prayer.

You may choose silence.

You may simply enjoy the aroma and allow yourself a few moments without having somewhere else to be.

There is no “right” way to receive the moment.

PRAYER WHEN WELCOMED

Some people may choose an Anointed Oils experience because of its biblical significance.

Others may simply find meaning in the ritual of slowing down and receiving intentional care.

Both are welcome.

Prayer may be offered when requested or welcomed.

No one is required to pray, profess a particular belief, belong to a denomination, or participate in a specific religious practice in order to be treated with dignity and hospitality.

Come as you are.

OIL DOESN'T DO THE CARING.

People do.

A bottle can sit on a shelf forever.

What gives the moment meaning is what happens when one person chooses to care for another.

Someone listens.

Someone serves.

Someone prays.

Someone places a hand on a shoulder.

Someone creates enough quiet for another person to finally breathe.

That's what Anointed Oils represents to us.

A simple substance.

An ancient tradition.

An intentional act of care.

Presence

Anointed Oils is one expression of the ministry taking place at Happy Acres.

Different experiences may meet different needs.

The activity may change.
The mission doesn't.

A MINISTRY OF BREATHE EASY SPEAKTEASY

Anointed Oils is offered as part of the ministry of Breathe Easy SpeakTeasy (B.E.S.T.), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious ministry at Happy Acres.

Our ministry creates opportunities for prayer, fellowship, Sabbath rest, reflection, compassionate care, charitable hospitality, education, recreation, service, community gathering, and renewal.

Anointed Oils is inspired by biblical traditions of anointing, hospitality, prayer, and care.

We do not represent oils, aromatic botanicals, prayer, or this ministry experience as diagnosing, treating, curing, or preventing medical conditions.

For us, the purpose is much simpler:

Care intentionally.
Serve humbly.
Pray when welcomed.
Create room to breathe.

COME RECEIVE FOR A WHILE.

Aroma to notice.
Hands to care.
Space to reflect.
Time to breathe.

At Breathe Easy SpeakTeasy, Anointed Oils draws inspiration from this ancient biblical tradition.

Natural oils and aromatic botanicals may accompany prayer, Laying of the Hands, quiet reflection, Sabbath rest, or other ministry experiences at Happy Acres.

The oil itself isn't the ministry.

The intention behind caring for another person is.

Holding Space for Our Community to Grow & Thrive.
