Yomassage

During the long 8 month break from massage and yoga as 2020 unfolded, I was able to get certified in Yomassage! I would like to tell you a little about this class before we begin. This is a restorative practice. It is more massage than yoga. Each position is about 8-10 minutes long. Each position is gentle, relaxing and meant to trigger your parasympathetic mode, which means your body is restoring itself. After I instruct you on the pose, please take your time to get into each position. If at any time you feel discomfort or just need to move, please feel free to do so, and then bring your mindfulness back to your breath.

Just like in daily life, you lean on others for support, security and comfort. In this practice, we will be using blankets, bolsters and blocks to lean on for support, security and comfort within ourselves.

I will be massaging each and every one of you with light to medium pressure in each position. Please let me know if you need to adjust the pressure to your comfort level. Remember, this is your class and YOUR BODY, if you need me to adjust my hands-on massage, please don’t be afraid to speak up because my overall goal is to bring you into complete relaxation.

Your health and safety is in my hands during this 90 minute session, so I will be using hand sanitizer.
